Department History

 The Instrumentation department was established in the year 1997 with an intake of 30 students. The department has been imparting quality Engineering Education and is grooming students in all facets of Creative Learning, Character building, Technical Competency, and Overall Personality Development. Qualified and experienced faculty is the forte’ of IT Department. The department has well developed laboratories for the VTU curriculum and have been useful for research work also. The department has always been yearning to undertake research projects in the fields of Instrumentation, Bio-Medical signal & Image processing, Bio-informatics, etc. The IT curriculum encompasses cutting edge industry relevant technologies like Signal Processing, Microprocessors and Micro- Controllers, VLSI Design, Computer Networking, Process Instrumentation and Controls, Bio-Medical Instrumentation, Aircraft Instrumentation etc., which are updated in consonance with the changing industrial needs.  


Infrastructure

The I.T. Department has a built up floor area of 1000 Sq. Meters comprising of three classrooms and well-equipped laboratories. The I.T. Department has a well equipped Library with more than 1,000 Text & reference books, Magazines, Periodicals, CD’s, Video Cassettes, Project Reports, Laboratory Manuals, Etc

The Instrumentation Technology graduates get employment opportunities in both hardware & software industries The options being Engineering design, Simulation, Development, Fabrication, Testing, Quality Control, & Marketing In Industries Like Industrial Automation , Home Automation , Nuclear Power Stations, Aircraft Instrumentation & Controls, Refineries, Petrochemical, Chemical, & Food Industries, Cement, Textile, Paper industries, Pharmaceutical, Engineering , Electrical &electronic, Biomedical , Thermal power station, & Automobile Industries, Fertilizer industries, Wood processing, Mining, etc. Our students are mostly placed in almost all premier software companies Locally & Globally through our Placement Centre.            


The Instrumentation Technology, being an inter-disciplinary branch of engineering, is heading towards development of new & intelligent sensors, smart transducers, MEMS Technology, Blue tooth Technology. The automation systems in the production are rapidly being enhanced and the demand for highly skilled instrumentation engineers is on the rise. In the instrumentation systems manufacturing sector, the demand for well trained process control engineering graduates is always present. This BE (IT) course provides Instrumentation students with sound theoretical & practical training in the operation and design of electronic instruments, digital logic systems, and computer based automatic process control & instrumentation, & automatic control system design, etc. To meet the industrial requirements of future, students are also made to become well versed with personal computer applications in Instrumentation, Process Control Systems Design, PLCs, DSP Architecture & Design, Microprocessors and Microcontroller System Design & Experimentation, Industrial Electronics & Applications.
