School dropout narrates his success story
Mangalore, May 14, 2012, DHNS:
Curtains down on ‘Srishti-2012’
Globals INC, CEO and President Suhas Gopinath inspired the budding engineers to be entrepreneurs sharing his life story at the valedictory of ‘Srishti 2012,’ a state-level project exhibition and competition.
“I had to drop engineering as I had shortage of attendance. However, my company has branches in 17 nations today. I was introduced to the world of Internet when I was in eighth standard. I used to collect my pocket money to visit the internet cafes. When I could not afford to pay the cafe, I made a deal with the owner that I shall look after his cafe at the lunch hour if he allows me to use internet for free,” said Gopinath.
“I learned web-designing and started designing websites for companies. However, an American company refused to work with me as I was a school student. This was my turning point because then I decided to start my own company,” he said and added that he started his company when he was 16 and spent his18th birthday with his auditors discussing the companies expansion.

Being one of the leading industrialists today, Gopinath asked students to innovate. “You cannot get anything with bookish knowledge. Academics is necessary, but never lose practical learning opportunities,” he said.
The engineers should develop techniques are affordable to common man,” stressed Karnataka Government Principal Secretary for Higher Education Siddaiah.
This expo has proved to be a stage, where a student can show his capabilities, he said. Speaking about the shortage of power being a major challenge, he asked students to find different methods to generate power. “We should try to use renewable sources such as wind and solar energy to solve this problem,” he opined.
“The ‘I’ in India should not stand for Imitation but should stand for Innovation” said ABVP National Vice-President Dr Raghu Akmanchi.
